There's a theme to the title, but that in a moment.
First, arriving to Vegas...left Orlando at roughly 6:30 am, had to make a stopover in Dallas and change planes, arriving at Vegas at 10:30 am Vegas time, but it was a more of a 7-hour flight...ack!
Baggage claim was no problem, and even catching a cab was a system on itself..well run and efficient with all the hordes of visitors coming in.
After arriving at Westgate Flamingo Bay, which was about 2 miles away from the Strip, I relaxed until about nightfall, and headed to the Strip to do some gambling (which wasn't bad for the first day: $60 on Video Poker yielded about $300...sweet!) and some ogling at hotels.
But the event of the night was the show "We Will Rock You" at the Paris Las Vegas. First, the hotel, obviously, has the Paris theme, but what a scenery! There's a replica of the Eiffel Tower outside the front, which I would say almost as tall as the real thing, but inside, it's set up like you're in the city streets, with the ceiling painted sky blue as if it's daytime everytime, and plenty of the scenes like the Belle Epoque, cobblestone paths, the fountains (even an Arc De Trioumphe {sp?} outside too!
But the show....oh wow!! "We Will Rock You" is a musical show based on songs from Queen...which, some of you already know, is one of my all-time favorite bands. But the storyline built around it (more on thyat in alter entry, I promise), the comedic elements of culture clash, and simply, the music...oh Lord, THE MUSIC!! Ranging from "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Radio Ga-Ga," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Under Pressure," and finishing with "We Are The Champions," and the grand finale, "Bohemian Rhapshody." The show almost had me in tears, screaming for more, giving the actors, dancers, and singers their well-deserved dues. If you are a rock fan, even more of a Queen fan, make a pilgrimage to Vegas and see and experience "We Will Rock You." I would definitely say it has become of my favorite shows I have ever seen anywhere, SO DON'T MISS IT!!
After another walk to some hotels, I was too tired to walk; thankfully the resort provides a free shuttle service, and I was pooped by 2am.
But it's a new day today, and it's picture day!! I'm going to make my rounds up and down the strip, taking pics, seeing some attractions for sure, and then, later tonight, going to the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Vegas and later to see another show: the Tony Award-winning "Avenue Q."
See you all later, and thanks for reading!
